Albert Hofmann isolated, synthesized, and named the principal psychedelic mushroom compounds psilocybin and psilocin. In 1969 the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich) honored him with the title D.Sc. (honoris causa).Hofmann was later served as a member of the Nobel Prize Committee. He was a Fellow of the World Academy of Sciences, and a member of the International Society of Plant Research. Ian addition he was a member of the American Society of Pharmacognosy, inter alia.
